The Kind of Work You Should Already Know How to Do

This is a senior hands-on opportunity, not an entry-level training role. We need someone who understands residential repair, can diagnose problems, and can complete finished work without needing constant supervision.

Carpentry, Doors & Finish Work

  • Doors, jambs, thresholds, hinges, latches, and hardware
  • Baseboard, casing, exterior trim, and finish carpentry
  • Cabinet doors, hinges, drawer hardware, and minor cabinet repair
  • Deck and fence repairs within appropriate handyman scope
  • Clean cuts, accurate fitting, solid fastening, and professional finish quality

Home Repair & Installation

  • Drywall patches and practical finish repairs
  • Siding and localized exterior trim repair
  • Window screens, storm doors, mailboxes, and gutter-related repairs
  • Shelving, mounting, hardware, and punch-list projects
  • Ability to recognize when work belongs to a licensed specialty trade

Customer-Facing Craftsmanship

  • Work independently in occupied homes and customer properties
  • Communicate clearly about what you find and what the repair requires
  • Protect floors, walls, furniture, landscaping, and surrounding finishes
  • Keep a clean, organized, professional jobsite
  • Complete work you are comfortable putting your name on
What separates a Master Craftsman from an average handyman?
Diagnosis Before RepairYou do not simply cover the symptom. You look for the reason something failed and choose a repair that makes sense for the material, structure, access, and customer's expectations.
Finish QualityYour cuts are clean, trim lines up, doors close correctly, fasteners are appropriate, patches are finished carefully, hardware sits straight, and the work looks intentional when you leave.
Independent JudgmentYou can walk into a residential repair, evaluate what is actually needed, identify what is outside scope, and make sound decisions without needing step-by-step instruction.
Material KnowledgeYou understand common residential materials, fasteners, anchors, sealants, hardware, wood products, drywall systems, exterior products, and when a particular material or method is the wrong choice.
Customer CommunicationYou can explain a problem without talking over the customer, set realistic expectations, communicate unexpected findings, and leave the customer confident in what was done.
Respect for the HomeYou understand that working in someone's house is different from working on an empty construction site. Cleanliness, odor, noise, protection, courtesy, and attention to surrounding finishes matter.
Efficiency Without ShortcutsYou work at a professional pace because you know the craft—not because you skip preparation, use the wrong fastener, hide damage, or leave details unfinished.
Own Tools & TruckYou already have the professional tools and reliable truck or work vehicle necessary to perform field repair work and transport ordinary tools and materials.
Customer SatisfactionThe standard is not merely “good enough.” We are looking for someone with the ability, attitude, and attention to detail needed to produce work that earns complete customer satisfaction.

What We Require

We are looking for one highly capable local craftsman who can represent Bentonville Handyman Co professionally in customers' homes. Skill matters, but so do judgment, dependability, communication, cleanliness, and the ability to finish what you start.

Drug-free position: Illegal drug use is unacceptable. The successful candidate must be willing to participate in random drug testing in accordance with company policy and applicable law. A non-smoking candidate is preferred for this customer-facing residential position.

Proven Craft Ability

You should already have advanced hands-on residential repair and carpentry experience and be able to show the quality of work you have completed.

Live Locally

Applicants should live approximately within a 20-minute drive of Bentonville, Arkansas under normal driving conditions. This is an on-site field role, not remote work.

Professional With Customers

You need to be dependable, respectful, easy to communicate with, and comfortable working directly with homeowners, landlords, and property managers.

How to Apply

We would rather hear from a genuinely skilled local craftsman with a concise, useful application than receive a generic resume that does not show what you can actually do.

01

Email Your Background

Email bentonvillehandymanco@gmail.com with your name, phone number, city of residence, work history, strongest repair/carpentry skills, and confirmation that you have your own tools and truck or work vehicle.

02

Show Us Your Work

Include several photos or examples of recent finished work if available. We are interested in fit, finish, repair judgment, and the kinds of projects you can confidently complete on your own.

03

Talk About Fit

Qualified applicants can discuss experience, work standards, local availability, compensation within the posted range, the amount of project work they want to take on, project scheduling, the 1099 contractor arrangement, and Bentonville Handyman Co's customer-service expectations.

Pay, Location and Working Expectations

Contractor rate: $40.00 to $55.00 per hour. Compensation is commensurate with demonstrated experience, ability, finish quality, efficiency, range of skills, and how independently you can perform the work.

Location: This is a local field position based around Bentonville, Arkansas, with work at customer properties in Bentonville and nearby Northwest Arkansas communities. Applicants should live approximately within a 20-minute drive of Bentonville under normal conditions.

Equipment: You should already own professional tools appropriate for residential handyman and repair work and have a reliable truck or work vehicle suitable for transporting those tools and ordinary job materials.

Contractor classification: This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity rather than a W-2 employee position. Project availability and scheduling will be discussed during the contractor onboarding process. Bentonville Handyman Co's customer-facing business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Part-time availability is welcome: Full-time availability is not required. An experienced retired or semi-retired craftsman who wants dependable part-time project work is welcome to apply, provided the same craftsmanship, reliability, customer-service, tools, vehicle, and local-availability standards are met.

Education: No specific college degree is required for this posting. Proven craft skill, experience, judgment, reliability, and workmanship matter more than formal academic credentials.

This is not a position for someone who is still learning basic construction skills. If you regularly need another person to tell you how to repair a door, fit trim, choose fasteners, diagnose a basic residential problem, or finish ordinary handyman work, this is probably not the right role.

The Customer Standard You Will Be Expected to Protect

Bentonville Handyman Co is built around customers trusting us inside their homes. The next Master Craftsman must be capable of producing the kind of workmanship and experience customers are happy to recommend.
